Okay, I am not a novice to shooting, but I'm not good at picking out glass for my rifle...

I want to put an scope on my CZ-452 .22 LR Trainer.  It will be mostly used for plinking, paperpunching and on an occasional varmint that may wander into my back yard.

I've looked at the Burris Timberline, Leupold 2-7x28 VX-I Rimfire,  Weaver 3-9x32 RV9 Classic Rimfire Rifle Scope, and today Edgar at SWFA recommended the Bushnell 3-9x40 Elite 4200 to put on the rifle.  Now I'm really confused.  I just know that my Mueller AVP did not fit on the rifle, the scope was too long.

All I want is a short scope similar to the new Burris Timberline, it can be fixed magnification or adjustable, but Burris became less attractive after reading about some gentleman's dealings with Burris' warranty service.  Their treatment of him makes me want to steer clear of Burris.

Can a fellow help me out since it seems that I am totally incapable of picking out my glass.
Thanks!

Any clues?  Any suggestions?

Welcome to The OT.

I think the 4200 recommendation is terrific, especially for the price right now.

You have to make a choice. Most of the Rimfire scopes are made a bit too cheap.  Then the other Rimfires go the other way.  The Bushnell 4200 3x9 is a very good choice for the money if you are plinking and hunting.

The Weaver rim fires are an exception to what Silver says. They are constructed like their big game scopes and fully multi-coated.
They come in 2.5-7 and 3-9.

What Tahqua said, the weaver is the way I go on rimfires, but it's your choice.

Okay, I'm just curious, but what does this have to do with a scope for a CZ-452?

Another thing I would like to add about rim fire scopes is reticle selection. Some like the Leupold, though very good, only come with the thin target reticles. They are not the best for plinking and shooting small animals. They are hard to see in low light or against poor back grounds.

Welcome, cjklekar!

I don't remember you mentioning what your budget limit is, but if you're not opposed to a good fixed power scope, another good option is the Zeiss Conquest 4X rimfire version, which is fairly light and compact, and more importantly, optically excellent.

This link doesn't mention it, but this is supposedly the 50 yard parallax model.

I put one of these on a bolt action Marlin and I really like the scope actually I like the scope much more than the stainless bolt action Marlin which doesnt seem to be as tight as I would like so I am thinking about buying a CZ or a Savage or  gag a Cooper.  I have had the scope on the range from 25 to 100 and have it zeroed at 50 yds and for the money it is a very nice little scope. I use the mil dots for hold over one mil down seems to be 100 and a bout a half mil up seems to be 25 with  the 50 yd zero  but there are other reticles available.
