I'm trying to decide on scopes for my three rifles.

My main problem is that I am not sure that I feel justified in spending the extra money to go to a VX-III or Zeiss for the typical everyday hunting.  However, that said, these are intended to last forever so when I choose once, that's it for the long haul.  Input is appreciated.

First:  Model 88 Winchester .308 Carbine - I use the Model 88 for my short range work so I am considering something the Leupold VX-II in the  2-7 range.

Second:  Model 1903A3 (customized)  Chambered in .270 Win. - For the .270 I am considering a Zeiss in something equivalent to a 3-9.  Any other suggestions?

Third:  Sako L57 .243 - I haven't a clue for the .243 what I should put on it.  I want to be able to use it for hunting but also something that is more comfortable to plink around with.

These are all used for hunting in North Florida and next year I will be living in Alabama so I'll start looking for someplace up that direction.

Considering the purpose, is there any reason to go into the VX-III or something equivalent for the increase in price?  I am open to all suggestions.

I've been saving for over a year to accomplish this stuff, but now that it's time, I would appreciate some outside input.  Thanks

88 winchester, my vote would go for (as Chris mentioned) bushnell elite 4200 1.5-6x36

1903, as chris aslo mentioned, swarovski a line 3-10x42 (i would get the TDS reticle)

sako burris FF2 3-9x40

I use the Leo 2X7 on short carbine, an Arsenal (milled receiver AK-47) and love it. Personally I would use a straight 6 (leo or weaver) on the .270 and I use a Nikon 4-12 on a 6mm for general deer hunting and the higher power for long shots, or small targets at closer range.
