I want to replace an older Leupold 4-12 Vari-X II with AO mounted on a very accurate Kimber 82C. My gripe with the Leupold is the AO is so stiff, I can barely turn it with one hand. I squirrel hunt with this combo and I use the 12X and AO quite often. The Leupold will go on another rifle.
I am looking for a variable with a similar power range and a side focus down to 20-25 yds, I have a side focus on a centerfire rifle and really like the feature. I want a simple reticle, duplex; not ranging or mil-dot and as compact and light as possible.
The closest I can find is a Bushnell 4-16x40 Elite 4200 Rifle Scope, but the picture of the reticle shows it to be somewhat thick. Is it as thick as the picture suggests?
What other scopes am I missing?
