Hi

Its pretty long time ago since I posted anything here so it time again.
I am about to put together a long range gun for myself and I tought you had an interest to see it as it pretty different from what is common.
I really like the TRG folders as the stocks are fully adjustable and also quicly lenght adjustable.
I have a 1,25" longer stock when shooting prone ideally and with this stock it's not a problem.

I do own and shoot a bit with a TRG42 in .338 Lapua but it's partly very expensive to shoot with and here is quite a lot of places who is restricted against .338.
I don't want a .308 as the trajectory is pretty tired, so I decided to put togehter a Tikka T3 in 6,5x55 with TRG stock.

That way I get the caliber ( I have almost same trajectory on my 6,5 as on my 338 with 250 grain lapuas.

A few other things that I wanted was a stiff sturdy action, with good accuracy and I have seen and testfired a number of extremely well shooting T3 before. I also wanted integreated rail in the action, and I really wanted to avoid the loose picatinny on the top.
The T3 have the same rail on the top as the TRG have so the mounts I make for TRG did fit with some minor altering.

The TRG chassi system does not fit the T3 so I had to machine a new chassi.

The T3 action is very close to the TRG and can use the same triggersystems for example, but there is also a number of things that differs.
THe ejection port is missplaced so I lowered it, to be able to use the mounts.

Here is the gun before new finnish and just assembled.

As I like to minimize potential problems the scopemount is made in one piece and I really like integrated rails. Surgeon actions for example appeals me very much.
But this time I chosed the T3.

Here is the mount with 6-24 Hensoldt mounted direct on the action.
The mount on the side is the QD mount for the ACI, and half past one is an aimpoint T1 mounted as secondary sight.

Testfired with the scope that the rifle normally have mounted a SB PMll 4-16.
This mount is as yuo can see lower than the previous one.
Reflex moderator and a prototype for a new Night vision mount is on the foreend.

Set up with Hensoldt NSV 80 night vision on orignal SAKO ITRS rail.

Right now I am working on lightning the system.
The folder stock is approx 2 lbs heavyer than the plastic butt stock, so with chaning some steel parts to alu I lowered the weight with approx 7-8 oz.
I am hoping to be able to lower the weight even more.

I have tested the gun with good results and on 900 meters I have 7 mils adjustments on both the 6,5 and the .338.
On 1450 meters I needed 19,5 on the .338 and 20 mils on the 6,5.
The 6,5 is loaded with Norma 130 grain bullets as approx 3000fps

Best Regards Håkan

The bolt schroud on the T3, is made out of plastic, so that one is replaced by one from Alutek.eu
It's made in 7075 alu and hardcoated, very well made.

They also manufactures bottommetal of very high quality that highly can be recomended.
Both for orignal mags and also for AICS mags and that one is ambidextreous.

I have however chosed to not use their bottommetal as I will in the future find a 10 round solution for the 6,5. As far as I know there is no suiteble mag in prodution, so I wait or do something myself.

I have been able to lower the weight about 3 oz more, on the folder part itself.
But the gun is still to heavy weighing with the PM2 4-16 about 13.9 lbs.
The scopemount even though it looks heavy weighs about 7.1 oz.

So most likely some more parts of the folder will be switched out to 7075 alumimium
I don't belive it's going to be a weaker construction as the steel they have used in the folder is not impressive and the wear and the play on older folders are pretty high.

I have kept the orignal barrel as they usally shoots far better than I am able to.
As I am not into Benchrest and is fully satisfied with practical accuracy this barrel will likely serve me fine.
I have recently rechambered to Ackley improved, and this group was shot with handloads for for the standard chamber.
100 meters and prone with bipods.
