If you where willing to spend a thousand dollars for a new hunting scope what would you buy? Or do you think it's worth while spending a little more???

Get yourself a Kahles C off the samplelist and don't ever look back.  Best in the business for under $1,000.  In parts of Europe people will tell you they make better optics than Swaro, Zeiss, or Schmidt & Bender.

Another vote for Kahles C here. Excellent optics and rugged.

For deer hunting, elk hunting, or...?

What part of the country do you hunt in, what is the terrain and foliage like, and what is a typical shot distance?

I can't argue with the choice of a Kahles C.  The scopes I would recommend above it will cost far more than $1K.  I would go with either the 1.5-6X42 or 2.5-10X50 for general big game hunting -- 1.5-6X42 if you typically hunt in thick cover and your shots will be 250 yards and under, or 2.5-10X50 if you hunt in more open country.

I'd also go with Steyr.  They make an awesome rifle and it's too bad you can't really get them new in the U.S. anymore.

you never know i have had a couple of brownings and they performed flawlessly  but only a fool buys a new model the first year, now i realize that they really didnt change the action just the bolt handle really and the top of the action looks a little different, but i still get a little leary of a first year product no matter what it is.
