Any hands on experience out there with Minox rifle scopes?  Better than Nikon Monarch with a similar range?  Is the ocular lens issue resolved?

The tube seems to me to be too soft of an alloy,  other than not thinking it is very tough, it does seem to work well, but be gentle with it.

I have a 2-10x40 Minox ZA5 which I purchased about 4 years ago for $510. I was using it on a Model 70 Winchester, .30-06 Grade II. Optically, the scope has high resolution and decent contrast. The scope has a little pincushion, optical aberration on the edges and eye alignment with scope axis is very critical or the scope blacks out the image.

Additionally, the scope is very difficult to use in really low light conditions, partially because of the scope axis criticality and partly from difficulty of aligning exit pupil which can be really challenging to find in low light conditions. These flaws make this scope essentially useless to use in really low light because of the difficulty in finding an image that the user's eye will properly align with.

Because of this, I have taken the scope off my .30-06 Model 70 and have mounted it on a Savage .22WMR which I do not use in low light. I would sell the scope but the used market value of the Minox scope is not worth doing because they are only worth about half of the new prices online.

For these reasons, I would rate this scope very low and I will not buy another Minox scope. For $500, one can buy a Zeiss Conquest which is a much better scope all around than the Minox for ease of use, quality of image and resale value.

I've had great luck with Minox.  had a za5 that was great.  Now I'm using the cheaper 3 on several rimfires and one centerfire with good luck.  Eyebox on mine has been fine.  I didn't have a minor issue with the 5 that minox quickly and efficiently fixed.

One thing on price..... While correct the value appears to drop, you can pick up a za5 on the sample list for a very reasonable price....many times no that much off list but in this case it's a big difference. So if worried about value loss could try a sample list one to minimize a loss if you didn't like it. I'm happy with mine so far, the 1.5x8. Seems a bargain at he price.

I have a ZA5 2-10X50 with the BDC reticle. I really like this scope as the eye relief is great. You bring the rifle up and - BAM - the sight picture is prefect. It's also really bright in low light. I don't have anything bad to say about this scope.
