Looking at the sample list ,cant decide and have never looked trough either.

       leica ultravid br 8x42@$1150 leaning this way?
        swaro slc 10x42@$1299
        to be used for hunting all situations.No Clue

Tough call. Ask 100 people, get 100 different answers. Some will depend on whether you want 10x or8x. As far as the Leica, or the Swaro optically......uh, toss a coin? Some like Leica's view, and some Swaro's view. I love my Leicas, but haven't looked through the slc yet.

Jim,

8x with wider FOV is better for close-in, tighter situations.
Less handshake.
Better exit pupil for dusk and dawn.
8x usually has better eye relief, if you wear glasses.

Thanx , thats pretty much what I gather. have an older pair of kahles 10x in which Im pretty happy with but kinda want something a little better . my buddy has zeiss vics 8x40 I like them alot.

I agree with anweis, 8x42 Leica, if those 2 are the only options.  I like the lower power, larger ep, wider FOV.  That is just me.

8X42 Leica, but I would always choose 8X over 10X.
