The SS is supposed to be an extremely durable scope. I use a Leupold Tactical 6x42 on a Webley Scott Patriot and it is very hard on scopes and mounts. No scope problems. I would think you should be fine.

I thought the M54 was a side cocker and noted for being recoilless? It is a powerful gun and can really smack the pests.

Welcome to O.T. and good luck with your choice.

I used a couple of different Bushnell Banner scopes on the couple of air rifles I have owned and most are rated for spring piston air rifle use. I used the 6-24x40 ao mil-dot on an Air Arms Pro-Elite which was probably the biggest scope killer ever. They dont make that rifle anymore but it was a MONSTER. I used the 6-18X50 ao Banner on a RWS 350Magnum. Before I had learned about magnum spring piston ratings when I began magnum air gunning, I had used some BSA scopes on a few rifles and I broke every scope I tried except for the little BSA 2-7x32AO air rifle scope. That little scope was the only BSA that held up, the problem with it was the fact that it would lose its zero after a session of shooting. I had great success with the Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x32AO with capless target turrets on all of my spring piston magnums. It found its home on my old BSA SS Lightning (pre facelift/silencer nerf era). The only cheap China junk scope I ever bought turned out to be a real performer. It was a Leapers AccuShot mil-dot 3-9X40 no adjustable objective but the paralax was factory set @35 yards to infinity. The adjustment knobs on it were fabulous and wish they were on more scopes. I had bought the scope to go on a China knock off R9 rifle my nephew wanted. I put some custom work into the gun which made it a fine shooter for what it was but the scope was the real suprise which wasnt at all affected by the push pull recoil and always held its zero. The optics were great in comparison to a mid-level Bushnell or Simmons scope. Anyway, there are some great scopes out there and some can suprise you.
