Its official. Lapua is now making .260 Remington brass. I'm hoping that it will be on the market in the next couple of months. I now know what brass I will be using for my .260 Imp.

LAPUA IS CRAP

Just joking I have a great respect for them. I use mostly Lapua bullets and brass and Vihtavuori Powders...

Vihtavuori powder is pricey but man oh man oh man the consistency and burn rate as well as the IDEA of their HE powders are supreme...Sometimes as consistent as 5-10 FPS over 30 or 40 round strings...

Lapua Bullets are superb as well.  They have an awesome specialty caliber and Special Purpose line-up...

The brass IMO does not pale in comparison to NORMA or any other.

I believe this is going to make me jump back into the Steyr .260REM I dumped it do to lack of brass I was going to go to the .284 or 6.5 swede but I will gladly go back to the .260REM just due to the brass availability...Even though money is very very tight I can afford the powder of the .260REM super flat super superior ballistics...A little cheaper than the .338LM....

I think Remington dropped the ball with their lackluster marketing and discontinuation of the 260 Rem. Even the idea of a 6.5 made from necked down .308 makes sense and the caliber is just right for so many reasons. Maybe the lack of heavy/high B.C. bullets kept it from catching on...

On Norma brass... It must be good stuff now, because so many people say it is, but back in the 70's there were a few of us around my town who had used Norma in several calibers and none of us were getting more than 3-4 loads out of the brass. I would frequently see 'the shiny ring' just above the head after the first firing. Norma was the only game in town for me, at the time, but I don't shoot that caliber anymore and haven't bought Norma brass since at least '80. It is possible that we all had rifles with lousy headspace issues, but after I became proficient at re- forming military brass for that rifle, I never had any kind of issue and usually lost the cases before they went south.
