Speyburn 10 year aged Scotch...
It is aged in American oak/bourbon/sherry casks... actually quite nice  Citrusy nose and taste, caramel, vanilla, just a bare hint of peat on the finish(almost cannot tell it's there, but it is).  Certainly a very good Speyside whisky.  Great for enjoying with a Romeo y Julieta Vintage IV cigar.
Not too expensive... actually pretty reasonably priced compared to some other Scotches that are not nearly as pleasing.

Very interesting. That sounds like Johny Walker red label, $30/liter.
Good stuff As good as I could taste after eating  spicy smoked ribs and while smoking a stiff maduro.

I've never been a big fan of the Johnny Red... to me, the Speyburn 10 surpasses it in most categories.  I do LOVE Johnny Walker Black, I actually like it better than the Blue(and the Green).  Blue is very smooth, but kind of tame for such an expensive Scotch...not much complexity, too predictable.  I've purchased a couple of bottles from the Duty Free shops, but would never pay the average full price for it.  Smooth does not translate to "worth the price".  Back to the Red... I don't dislike it, back in my bartending days consumed a bit of it, but don't seek it out, now.  I've often used Johnny Red as my well Scotch.

Bumbu is one of my favorites right now.  It is like liquid bananas foster.  It is very sweet.  sometimes I do get a harsh aftertaste of alcohol/acetone.  Its unique for me.

I was a week early.  I managed to drink about a pint of scotch in a night.  Needless to say I didn't find out until the next morning.

Black label is way too petty (peady, too much peat?).  for me.
There is a Gold label reserve, sort of in between red and black. Excellent but expensive.
Since these are blended to begin with, I mixed 1/3 black with 2/3 red and a splash of water and the result was good enough for my uneducated and simple palate.

Sounds like a very good compromise... I'd probably go 1/2 and 1/2.

I found a superior deal on Basil Hayden Bourbon recently and though I almost always use it with only a splash of pure H2O, I decided to try it out in my Manhattan experiment.
Old Fashioned Glass 1/2 filled with ice
2oz Basil Hayden
0.75oz Lillet Rouge
0.25oz simple syrup
1tsp cocktail cherry juice
2 cocktail cherries
Squeeze of Blood Orange

Just my opinion... best Manhattan I've EVER made... it's what I do... improve
My wife does not really like Bourbon, she loves this concoction...I think the Blood Orange is the magic ingredient.
