I wish I could find it on DVD, I loved watching that movie when I was a little kid.  I think there have only been a few copies of VHS ever made.

Yeah, great movie - think he was using Bear Razorheads, certainly stopped the argument with the bad guy in a hurray.

Charlie Palmer (right), Chairman of Gainesville, Florida-based Fred Bear Equipment Co.,
is shown presenting Actor/Director Burt Reynolds with a Fred Bear TakeDown traditional bow
in recognition of the 30th Anniversary of the release of the film "Deliverance."
Bear Archery provided technical consultants (including Fred Bear, himself) as well as
bows, arrows and accessories used in the making of the 1972 award-winning film in which Reynolds starred.

The commemorative TakeDown is now on permanent display at the Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum,
located at 100 North U.S. 1 in Jupiter, Florida.  Hundreds of unique items are on display at the museum,
including the canoe used in the making of  Deliverance (shown behind Reynolds and Palmer).

That Bear takedown was a great piece of gear.  In my youth I lusted after a Bear Super Kodiak but just didn't have the bucks.  Instead bought a beautiful Shakespeare Kaibab that still has one of the nicest risers I have ever seen on a factory bow - laminate of Zebra wood, Bubinga and Coca bola.  Hangs on the rec room wall nowadays.

Well I broke down and bought a VHS copy off ebay $36 and it's minty.  It kinda has that Old Yeller feel to it.  But it is a good family movie for the kids.  I still dig it. Even though the bear in some spots is very fake looking, in other spots they use a real Grizzly, but it has a good plot.  The movie was from way back in the old days, 1966, 8-)

I barely remember it as a youngster. I think I will try the link I posted above and get back with you. It would be a good movie to keep up north.

Thanks, I saw that. I am hoping for a DVD but this one looks to be a rare movie.

It's not out on dvd, only VHS.  The lastest copy of this movie was released in 1991 and I am thinking there wasn't copyright protection incrypted into it, therefore it could up uploaded through a VCR into a Tivo or other Digital video recorder and burnt onto a DVD.
