NOW and we must be a part of it, must be HEARD:

Are we serious about our defense of this Nation?  Are we SERIOUS about our rights?  It concerns me greatly that people seem to "talk the talk" on the 2nd Amendment, the 1st Amendment, but sit back and let others do the legwork.
NOW, ladies and gentlemen, YOU MUST STAND UP or we will not only lose this debate, we will lose our rights and those of future generations, possibly forever.  How many countries in the world right now, even former dictatorships, enjoy the type of Constitution we have?  How many people can claim even the diminished freedoms we have (freedoms dramatically diminished under the current regime)?

NOW is the time for all good men (and woment) to come to the aid of their country...

Not tomorrow, not "in a few minutes... NOW...

Stand up... or get on your knees and expect to be there for a long time...

Want to stop this  school shooting stuff  --

Option 1:  Just post two armed National Guard soldiers in every school in the country and switch out whos on the job every two weeks so it doesnt get boring.

Option 2:  Just post two armed NRA members at the front door to every school  guys who have had a carry permit for at least  5 years and commited no criminal offense. Have them wear bright red t'shirts that read WE ARE THE  NRA  Mess with our kids we will SHOOT your ass!

Option3:  Ask Retired Police Officers to volunteer their services as guards within the school - these old guys have nothing better to do, they love kids and they know when not to shoot someone.

The crazies will just move on to other venues...more theaters, shopping malls, etc...the occasional church. Ultimately, the best thing we have going for us is that there are remarkably few people who do this sort of evil.

I honestly think those in support of gun rights should get out in front on this issue. Support legislation that will provide more mental health services. Make it an issue to pressure people who live with someone that has mental health problems not to have firearms. I have zero sympathy for Adam Lanza's mother. She provided the guns and even took the kid shooting.

Here's something to chew on (and I know it's disputed in some places): Generally, what data is available indicates that gun ownership is going down. Most guns are bought by people who already have guns. Part of this is a decline in hunting. But I sometimes wonder if people get turned off by all the "You'll have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers" rhetoric. While we all love our firearms (in some cases, I'll admit too much!) not everybody sees it that way. What I'm saying is we have to make those positive steps too. Some of which include ensuring hunting opportunities and sponsoring safe events that introduce new shooters to firearms.

My wife doesn't like guns. Most women I know don't. My main sell on introducing our kids to firearms has been that they're 1) better off learning how to use one responsibly and safely than risk that they'll encounter a firearm and just start playing with it. Just yesterday, while sending an FFL transfer request at my local store, my two sons starting picking up kid-sized .22s from a rack in the store. Before the oldest even had one out of the rack I was immediately explaining (again) where it was safe to point, always assume it's loaded, and had him check the chamber for a round. 2) We enjoy the taste and health benefits of wild game meat and my wife knows it's great exercise and rejuvenating. I want our kids to be able to be strong, healthy and outdoors.

Guns here are being sold at an alarming rate.
People were in lines to buy.

Rhetorical Question...

IF YOU DON'T TRUST A PROPERLY TRAINED AND LICENSED TEACHER TO BE LAWFULLY ARMED IN THE CLASSROOM...

Then why do you trust him with your kids in the first place?

People will need them in my lifetime i think, and most definitely in my son's. I only pray that our nation has enough people with backbone that will stand up to tyranny when the days comes. I WILL NOT give up my right to bear arms.

The administration that armed the cartels in "Fast and Furious" is now talking of disarming its citizens. Nice!

And, funny thing: there are mountains of data regarding the effectiveness of "assault weapon" bans, but they aren't talking about that, the data doesn't fit the dialogue, so all thus far has been emotions and anecdotes.

There will always be evil individuals, we cannot live free AND govern as though all are evil.

Folks… Want to tick off an anti-weapon person with stats? Go to http://gunowners.org/fs0404.htm
Here are some…
* Guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense.
* Concealed carry laws have reduced murder and crime rates in the states that have enacted them.
* Twice as many children are killed playing football in school than are murdered by guns.
* CDC admits there is no evidence that gun control reduces crime.
* Gun shows are NOT a primary source of illegal guns for criminals. According to two government studies, the National Institute of Justice reported that “less than 2% of criminals reported obtaining firearms from a gun show.”
* A Research 2000 poll found that 85% of Americans would find it appropriate for a principal or teacher to use “a gun at school to defend the lives of students” to stop a school massacre.
* Gun-free England not such a utopia after all. According to the BBC News, handgun crime in the UK rose by 40% in the two years after it passed its draconian gun ban in 1997.

And according to a United Nations study, British citizens are more likely to become a victim of crime than are people in the U.S. The 2000 report shows that the crime rate in England is higher than the crime rates of 16 other industrialized nations, including the United States.

I read an article recently that applauded South Africa as the pinnacle of gun confiscation and positive outcomes.  Strange, the South Africa I just visited is riddled with violence, mostly carjackings and home invasions.  Strange that the article's author made no mention of data, just that he knew a guy that turned in his gun and felt safer.

As the signature says, the plural of "anecdote" is not "data."

I spoke with my brother yesterday, he had just purchased a revolver in preperation for a concealed carry class (not his first gun purchase either). He's a retired USAF Officer, and a retired high school math teacher from just south of L.A.. He told me that it always worried him that he was in a gun free zone with no way to defend himself, especially knowing that the law didn't mean anything to so many in the area.He no longr lives there, but in a state that got an F from the Brady bunch. He feels safer living in a state with a lower crime rate.

It's a failing in the human psyche... people tend to want to live in areas where they don't feel threatened every moment, they tend to want to survive unharmed, to not have to fear for their lives walking down a street or on a beach or in a parking lot... we are such wimps... we tend to want to be able to defend ourselves if we are attacked... pathetic... I don't know how we can live with ourselves.

I just saw an idiot on MSNBC say "civilians have no right, no business with any weapon that contains over 6 rounds... if you can't get it done in 6 rounds, you better go get you some firearms trainin'... civilians have no right to have a 30 round magazine...

We have to stand up... NOW... speak now, or FOREVER hold your peace (what little there will be).

I have no problem letting my many 30 round mags, among other things, do my talking when the time comes. I've already called my state congressman and senator from our district. On to the national level next.

While your making your stand to defend your rights it would all be in vain if you don't at the same time and with more vigar insist that The All Mighty God be restored to his place. As the foundation and purpose of this nation. These workers of deceit and self will did not start this as an assualt against our rights to bare arms. They started by having the courts ban God from our shools, government and lives. It was subtle, slick and well planned. Now they figure its past reversing. If you don't give equal diligence in restoring God to schools and government they are correct!!

maybe im on glue, but i not really sure that a gun control panel, or whatever they are forming in d.c. should be a priority right now in this country, especially considering our economic state??

I'm kind of counting on our economic state to save our bacon.

speaking of stats. I would like to persoanally thank Pred. Obama for putting more assault rifles, and high cap mags into the hands of the ordinary citizen in 5 short years than any NRA could hope to accomplish in its lifetime
