Today the Supreme court is weighing in on this, and scrutinizing the meaning or intent, as to the term Militia, does it refer to individuals, once again some folks just won't quit. They want our weapons, and they won't quit. Please keep tabs on this and write your reps, support the NRA, and any gun org that you have.

This whole issue of the interpretation of what "militia" means pisses me off.  Evidently people don't understand plain English.  Regardless of the meaning of "militia," it's IRRELEVANT to the scope of the 2nd amendment, because the word is contained within the clause explaining why the 2nd Amendment was established to begin with.  In the main clause, it refers to "the right of the people," which is used throughout the Bill of Rights to mean individual, not collective rights.

An example of a sentence written exacly like the 2nd Amendment wording might be.  "A lifelong trusted friend of mine, the right for Jim to withdraw money from my bank account at will shall not be infringed."  Now, suppose I wrote that up on a contract and had it notarized.  Then suppose later on Jim proves that he's not such a good and trusted friend after all.  It doesn't change the fact that I just gave him unfettered access to my bank account anytime he feels like it.  The "lifelong trusted friend" clause was merely an explaination of why I decided to give Jim this right, not a condition applied to that right.  It's the same thing with the "well-regulated militia" clause.  The framers were just explaining why it was necessary to give the PEOPLE the right to keep and bear arms in order to preserve liberty, not as a qualifier limiting that right which "shall not be infringed."

The mere refrence to a purpose on the 2nd Amendment does not alter the fact that an individuaql right is created. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is stated the same way as the right to free speech or free press. It does appear that gun ownership was made a protected right by the FRAMERS and while we might not celebrate it, it is time we recongnize it. Author Jonathan Turley is the Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at George Washington University and a member of USA TODAYS board of contributors, also stated THE NRA MIGHT BE RIGHT AFTER ALL....SOME Liberal's are FINALLY facing reality.........The article is in the Parting Shot in this months America's First Freedom  PLEASE READ

Medic of course you're right friend. My concern is that the lib's don't give a rats pituti, about the Constitution to begin with, and they're only gonna keep at it until they get a judge that will agree with them. and sooner or later they will, unless we all stand firm and make alot of noise.
