This note is to express my thanks to the people on this forum and to the folks at SWFA.  After 40 years of hunting whitetail in the mountains around Tucson I figured it was time to upgrade my optics.  Like many of you, my funds are limited, but after much consideration of what I read here, I selected the FF II 3-9x40 scope and the Legend 10x50 binoculars.  From SWFA, of course.

What a difference!  While scouting, I was finding deer at longer distances and lower lighting.  The first weekend of hunting, I had a shot at a nice buck at about 150 yards.  He was sneaking around a ridge about to disappear.  Not time for a solid rest.  Just sat down, rested my elbows on my knees.  He stopped just before rounding the corner and I fired.  He dropped in place with a shot through the neck.  The scope was great.

Unfortunately, while dragging the deer out, the sling (also 40 years old) on my rifle broke.  The rifle was on my downhill shoulder and flipped off, performing a scope first belly flop on the rocks and dirt below.  I figured it was one-and-done for the Burris.  Back at the car I set up a target to check the damage.  The zero was dead on.  Very impressive!  Very sturdy!

The next weekend I was guiding for a friend and found him a nice buck about 250 yards down the ridge below us bedded in the shade under a tree.  It took me an hour of glassing with the new binoculars to find him.  I donít think I would have found him with my old equipment.  I laid my backpack on the ground and had my friend shoot off it with my rifle.  One shot an the buck rolled over with a heart shot.

Thatís 2 for 2 with the new optics.  Its amazing how better glass makes a difference.

Thanks again to everyone.
