Just received my 3-9x40mm Zeiss Conquest on Monday and just wanted to say thanks for the great service.
I purchased the Conquest after alot of reading and advice from Chris, ranburr, koshkin, tbone1 and many others here on the forum. I appreciate all of your in-depth responses, and I must say that the customer service from SWFA was the best. Patty (who took my order) was great, I put her and SWFA's 110% low price gurantee to the test and they past with flying colors.
As for the scope, I couldn't be happier, it arrived on-time and in an UNOPENED box (which saved me from returning it to you) the finish was pristine, unlike other "new" scopes I've purchased. I haven't had a chance to compare it to the Leupolds' in my gun cabinet yet, but it appears to be very good optically. I love the etched reticle, it doesn't wash-out when looking toward the sun. I feel that I couldn't have purchased a better scope for that amount of money. Thanks.
One last question: I'll be mounting this scope (with Butler Creek flip-up covers) using two-piece Leupold Dual Dovetail bases & rings on a Browning A-Bolt II (Stalker) chambered for .300 Win Mag. Can I still use low rings? |

I mounted a 40 mm scope on my Ruger 25-06 (has the same barrel as the Ruger 300 mag) with what I thought were medium rings, but were actually low rings. The scope had just about 1mm of clearance at the objective end. No room for Butler Creek. Using a base might get you up high enough. You might get lucky. I'd go with meduim rings. There's only about 1/8" difference and you should be able to go with a 44mm or 50mm scope later. I've now put a 50mm Weaver Grand Slam from SWFA thank you very much on it with medium rings and Bulter Creeks with very little, clearance but it works fine. |
