Two things I'd like to do after I retire; start a vineyard and some bee hives.

BeltFed you would love it. It's hard work, but well worth it.

Don't know about the vinyard but would love to visit one.

There are 3 wineries in my county. One of them is close by and has said they would buy my grapes, and I know the soil is good for grapes. I'd also like to have a few hives for the honey and to pollinate the vineyard.
Does anybody know how well the American honey bee coexist with the Stinking sweat bee?

They're perfect for that. Our garden was crazy this year! Several gardens around us did not produce like ours.

Lynn, there are over 200 vineyard/wineries around Seneca Lake alone here in central New York That's one of the Finger Lakes.

I'm sorry, but I'm not driving all the way to NY to deliver grapes to some second rate winery.

Don't you know how to recognize your own bees from robber bees?

Those were democratic bees redistributing the wealth....

That's cool, Steph! A buddy of mine got into beekeeping and produced some pretty good honey before a job promotion caused him to move out of state. He really enjoyed the hobby, and I learned a lot about it from him.

Do you have the Italian bees?
