The Japanese Tascos were pretty decent scopes.

Pretty decent,.as Ed said.  I wouldn't depend on it for long term resilience.

Had a 2.5 X 10 X 44 Tasco World Class Plus bought in late 80s or early 90s. Very clear, serviceable scope for daylight use. Always held zero. Killed a number of deer with it astride a .30-06. However, the wheels would begin to run off not long after sundown. The later it got the greater the internal flare.

Had one back in that time. It had better adjustments than the "good" Simmons 44mags, but a step down in glass.

Thanks for the input, guys. I feel it is not worth putting on a custom rig. It only cost me $18.

The Tasco Japanese scopes (at least the World Class and other higher end ones) were decent bargains. I wouldn't trust a hunting trip to one but I have a 4X12 World Class purchased in the early 90's on a low-recoil range toy and it still seems to be doing OK.
