I am interested in using either of the two above brands as i've heard nothing but good things about both.  However, should i go with the talley one piece ringset or the warne rings and bases.  Ive heard that since the talley incorporates the base with the lower ring half its actually a more stable platform.  Any input would be helpful.  Also ive been using blue loc-tite to seal the threads on my scope rings but have recently heard not to do so, except for the bases.  Whats the best method for ensuring things dont come loose?

The rings that have the bases integral to the lower ring halves are sometimes referred to as "ringsets", as you mentioned. There is certainly nothing wrong with them if they are well-made, (as are Talleys, by most accounts). They are clean-looking, simple and usually fairly economically-priced. There are fewer parts to assemble and thus fewer parts to potentially loosen up, if you are the sort who worries about such things. Their one big disadvantage is that you have to dissassemble the whole works to change out scopes, whereas with a ring/base setup all you need to do is loosen the rings from the base and tighten the back-up scope down in place of the first.( If the second scope has compatable rings already fastened to it, of course.)

As far as putting Loc-tite on the screws, we had a pretty good discussion here about that a few weeks ago.  I believe the majority ruled as follows: Base screws- Yes. Ring screws-No. I may be wrong, though. I usually put it on both, and have never had any problem whatsoever, but YMMV.
