My question is would I need to put lock tite around the screw threads for the three holes on the base? If not, how much torque would you put on the three screws going into the top of the barrel?

Sorry for takin so long to get with ya! First off, some people use Locktite and some don't. I don't.
As far as torque specs go I found these awhile back which are an average of the various specs recommended by some of the manufacturers:
    6-48 screws torque 16 to 18 in/lbs
    8-40 screws torque 28 to 35 in/lbs.
If you want to you can e-mail Gary Turner at:
  He WILL repy!
