Anyone have the Talley one piece mounts on a Remington 700 in .270 or larger. I have been adviced to get the extanded 1 piece mounts but Id like to hear from someone who has actually used the regular or the extended mounts on a .270 or larger caliber, preferably .270 on a Rem 700 ADL.

Any other advice or suggestions are welcomed.

Depends on the scope your using, etc.

I'm using Talley extended mounts with medium 30mm rings on both my m700's, both have Swaro's (2-12x50).

With that Bushnell being a short scope and .270 being a long action if you go with extended and face the rings together it will put them a tad closer and get you some more room to play with eye relief. You can reverse the front ring so the extension actually makes the rings closer together on that long action. However you could probably go with just the regular mounts also. I believe I spoke to on the phone not to long ago? The part numbers are 94X700 for Extended and 940700 for the normal. I usually recommend ext. over the phone with short scopes like that and long actions because I personally have had times where I have had to tear it back down and put extended mounts on with the rings facing one another. It's a for sure safe call that way no worries about your preference on eye relief or how you shoulder the gun as everyone is different that's the only way to garuntee it will work on the first set shipped. 94X700

I have Talley mounts on my 6.5/284 as well does Chris. I also have them on my .240 Wby mag Chris also on his 6.5 STW. All 3 6.5's are modified Rem. 700 actions. We also have a few .223 and .308 LTRs with those rings and SS 3-9's and a few various other Weatherbys and Remingtons.

Nice write up Christopher, much better detail than my quick reply.  Thunbs Up

With my scope(s) the extended mounts were perfect for proper eye relief and shouldering. If I would have gone to the standard mounts I would not have been able to achieve this with the scope(s) I chose.

If I got the regular mounts would I be able to have both mounts face forward or do the mounts always have to face eachother?
