I was wanting to know what some people with first hand knowledge have to say about the following line of scopes.
1. Nikon Monarchs
2. Sightron S-II and S-III's
3. Millet Buck gold
The millet being so cheap, was a reason for me looking at it, for a descent scope. Is it equal to a Leupold vx-II?
The Nikon and sightron I'm interested in for a $500.00-800.00 range scope for hunting and target shooting. Looking for a higher quality scope without going to the $1000.00 ^ market.
I have been pleased with my Leupold VX-III's

May want to look at the Conquests in your price range. Very nice indeed
The samplelist also has some nice options. Take a look at samplelist.com

8644 Kahles 3-10x50 Helia CL Multizero 51724, Matte finish, 1" tube, 4A reticle, side focus, fast focus eye piece, Allows you to zero your scope at five different ranges, light ring marks. $1,315.00 $749.95

The Nikon monarchs are nice, as are the Sightrons. I have no experience with Millet. Like my Conquest better than my Monarch though. Bushnell has nice offerings in the 4200 Elite also. Nikon's Team Primos is on sale right now at swfa. Hard to beat for $200, or less at the samplelist.

as a note, I don't recommend getting Nikon's from the list, their warranty is only 90 days!  Look for the ones that still have full warranty, like the Kahles.

Great posts gents. Would add the Vortex Diamondback and Viper lines as well.
On a side note, The Buck Gold isn't all that great. The TRS-1 is pretty good, but is a Tactical scope.

The Nikon only has a 90 day warranty?  Their website says lifetime, no proof of purchase necessary.

We are talking about scopes that are on the samplelist.com, which are usually "refurbished" and only come with 90 days.  Not sure how they manage that, but maybe they are stamped or otherwise identified as such.

The Sightron's are a good deal for the money, in my opinion.  Take a good look at them

If I remember right .. Chris said they were having issues with some millets ... as far as refurbs ... I think all of them ... no matter which only have 90 days ... so don't waste your money thinking all have longer warranties .

As for the Millett, I was going to put it on my savage 110 .308 mostly just shooting paper with it.
The Nikon would be going on my ole .270 for hunting

Oh, the Sightron I was just curious how it stacks up in general, say the S-II equal to a Leu. VX-II, and the S-III to the Leu. VX-III???

The S-2 is optically superior to the VX-II The S-III is a 30mm tube and side focus.

I am very happy with my two Sightrons and had a very good experience with their CS when I had a problem with a pistol scope.
