I had a Swift Premier 4-12. Great scope, taught 3 of 4 of my daughters to shoot with it, hunted for years with it.  One of the best "values" I have ever run across.  Last deer I shot with it was at just somewhere about 0600... just before sunrise over the horizon.  A few years ago a gentlemen posted here looking for a cheap scope to teach his daughter, who was dying of cancer, to hunt.  I sent it to him, she did well with it, learned to hunt, got her first deer with it.
Swift is good...

Any eye relief issues with the Swift, Dan?

None for me, none for my girls, but they always used it on the .243 BAR which has rather "mellow" recoil.  I put it on 7mmMag, 30-06 BAR and Winchester Model 70 and never had any problems.  But... I've never had any eye relief problems with anything... some people's experience may be different.

I always felt the Swift's were a good scope for tyhe money. Decent optics, and the over the counter warranty made it exceptional. The only one I've ever owned was bought by my BIL, then owned by my Dad, then by me, is about 20 yrs old. Never had a problem.

i was eying that 1.5-4.5X reliant  as a low $ alternative to the excellent "hog-plex"--

only 3.5" eye relief --kind of low for a big game scope -- though 3.5" should be enough for a .223 with room to spare.

I have a Conquest 4x with 3.5in eye relief on my .458 Lott, a Pentax 4x Gameseeker with rated 3.5in eye relief (works out more for me, but 3.5 is what they advertise) on my Ruger #1 .458WinMag... no problems with either... eye relief is overrated...

Eye relief is overrated until you get scope smacked.

I feel 4 INCHES of eye relief is sorta overrated and agree with you, Dan about fundamentals.
But...
When I buy a scope with a spec'd ER of 3.75" and it smacks not only me, but a friend who I consider as good a hunter as I know, and a former Army Ranger, who shot it after me on the same day, then eye relief comes into play. I won't name the scope make, but it starts with a I and ends with an R.  Ouch

Interesting... when I was shooting my 50BMG for the first time, it was wearing an IOR. While I did not get "smacked", the first shot I did get a gentle "brush"... just a bare "touch". I corrected and did not have any other incidents, but I guess that is as close as I've ever come to getting "bit".

I've been touched at the range a couple of times while wearing safety glasses that had ever so slightly slid down the bridge of my nose, not fun, lesson learned. My brother got tagged real good shooting up hill at a buck in Colorado.  -It happens.

If all you do (not saying you specifically) is shoot off a bench, then I'd agree somewhat.  Put yourself prone, on the ground, with uphil/downhill/sidehill, and other awkward positions it ca be a big facor.

I shoot prone, kneeling, sitting and standing. I use a bench for zeroing and then try to never shoot from it.
