I bought a an old 6mm Remington 742 mounted with a Swift Buck Model 836 scope. I noticed the scope doesn't have a windage or elevation adjustment...however, my first 5 shots were all within the 2 inch bullseye at 200 yds...I couldn't be happier, but I'm curious how the scope was adjusted to be so accurate...The serial # shows the rifle to be pre 1975 and I'm sure the scope is similar age..The prior owner says he got the rifle from his Grandfather in the late 80s and had never fired it...Can anyone here help me?...

Can you get a picture of the scope and the mounts? When you get the pics try to contact moderator or another member that you can email them to help get them posted. You have to have 50 post before you will gain access to the upload and edit tools. Someone here will likely be able to help once we can see what you have. Welcome to the OT.

It is a 4x36 and looks like a regular rifle scope except the 1" tube is just a straight tube and doesn't have portals in the center top or side for adjustment like all my other scopes...I'll try and get a pic this week end...Have you ever seen a scope like I described?

Thanks....I'm surprised no one here could help me out...but just an FYI for someone's future knowledge...An old gent I met showed me how, back in the day before scopes had an adjustment on the barrel of the scope, the scope was adjusted with the mount and fine tuned with metal shims being placed between the scope barrel and the mounts....

Your windage and elevation adjusters are underneath this sliding, locking collar.
