Swift makes a 16-40x80 bino.  Does anyone know anything about these binos?  I am considering them instead of a spotting scope.  I can always see better with two eyes.  What is the general quality of Swift products?  I just don't see much of their stuff.

I know nothing about the particular Swift binoculars you asked about, but I can vouch for Swift quality. I have a pair of Swift 7x35 Tritons that I was given in 1958. From a cosmetic point of view, they look terrible, and I've replaced the carrying case a couple of times, but they perform just as they did 46 years ago when new. I still carry them in preference to several other pairs of binoculars.

Do you have a picture of the Swift.  It sound like two spotters side by side.

Check out these two set ups.

848 Galaxy

16-40x80 Giant Zoom binocular. BaK-4 prisms, fully multi-coated. Tripod adapter is adjustable for proper weight distribution. Hard case included.

One thing about these that I really like is that they are center focus.  I hate individual eye focus.  I called Swift and these were discontinued because they did not sell.  According to them, quality was great but they did not catch on with the targeted birding market.  Chris, if you can find a pair I will take them.  A lot of people have the on their websites, but they are not actually in stock.  These look to be a good deal for the price of around $850 on most websites (MSRP $1,550).  I just wish that I could have discovered them about 6 months ago.  Is there an equivelent out there?
