Considering either the 10x42 HD or the 3-15x42 for my hunting rig.  My only concern is whether or not the Mil Quad reticle is visible enough for use at sunset + 30 minutes.  Anyone that has one care to comment?

Thanks,

John

I've only looked through a SS with Mil Quad, but I'd venture to say it would be the same as a standard Mil Dot as far as working in low light situations, friend.

As an aside, I wouldn't want a fixed 10x for hunting uses.

I appreciate the input.

I'm in West Texas and most of my shots on Whitetails are on relatively open ground.  I think in the circumstances I hunt deer a fixed 10x would not be a hindrance.  I have other rigs suitable for chasing pigs through the mesquites with.  My main concern is whether the reticle is visible enough in the last 30 minutes of legal shooting light.

John

If that's your main concern, then I'd definitely opt for a lower powered variable. The ability of being able to turn down the scopes magnification will allow you to see the reticle better, longer into low light shooting scenarios.
