Good morning,
Ok so I just ordered a used Remington .308 with a new SWFA SS 16x42 on top of it. When I picked it up from the ffl dealer, the box it came in was destroyed. On the scope itself, the bullet impact elevation cap was turning without clicking, so I tightened the hex screws and then it started clicking. My question is, since the cap was free spinning and even now that is tight again, will the calibration be off? If so, is there a way I can fix it myself? My concern is this is my starter rifle and scope and I don't want to start with my scope being off. Also a good note too, fedex filed a report about how bad the box was, so if I can't fix it I think I'm covered. Any info greatly appreciated. Thank you |

You should be just fine. Zero the rifle at what ever distance you want and once you have that done. You can loosen the screws that you tightened and move the cap so it reads zero. That way when you adjust the elevation you know where to return it to for you zero.

Yep, shoot your zero in and then set it on the scope turret. Good to go.
