You will notice some difference maybe at night.  I tested a Z6 and even at night you could see through the scope.  Also depends on what mag range you are looking at getting.  The 56 will allow you to use a high magnification longer.  I would prefer the 44 personally for mounting height.  The Z6 is so good optically that you will be fine with either one for dusk and dawn.

Definitely the 44 mm objective lens, it will mount lower on your rifle and will be less weight.  The glass is very good so it will definitely transmit enough light with the 44mm objective let alone the 56mm.  For dusk and dawn all you will need is the 44!

I would get the 44mm scope as well.  I'm assuming since you mentioned these 2 objective diameters, you must be looking at the 2.5-15X model.

The 56mm will give you marginally better low light performance, but you would have to dial the scope up to the upper end of its magnification range to start seeing the difference.  At some point, form factor and mounting height considerations begin to trump low light performance for me, especially when the Z6 series scopes are so optically outstanding to begin with.  I have a 1.7-10X42 Z6 and I haven't felt the least bit handicapped in low light with "only" a 42mm objective.

You won't be disappointed.  The Z6 is a great scope.  And I am sure you will love the 44mm and it will do great for dusk and dawn.

I am glad you like it.  It is a great scope, and you will have no problems with low light at all.  Some day I will get the money saved for one myself.
