i need some input on these 2 scopes: swarovski z6 2.5x15x44 or zeiss davari fl 4-16x50. it is going on a custom 280 ackley that presently wears a leupold vx3 4.5x14x50 lr which is a good scope i just want to upgrade. i like to shoot long range this is why i like the extra magniacation . i dont live close to any stores that have these scopes so i was hopeing to get some opinions from those who are familiar with these scopes . i also recently made a post about a kahles helia k 4-18x50 but im kinda worried about warrenty on kahles products . thanks in advance for your replies

I like the 2.5-15 Mag ratio on the Z6. That alone would place the Swaro above the Zeiss for a hunting scope.

The magnification range on the z6 is first class and would make an excellent hunting scope.  For low light conditions and clarity they will both be very close.  As for reticles, i do like the Zeiss Rapid Z for long range, it is excellent.  My preference is i like the zeiss reticles work for me more then swarovskis  THe BRX reticle for the z6 would also be excellent as well.  Both are excellent choices and are definitely worth the more dollars!

There is something about a company who has been building optics for 150 years...I would go ZEISS

Both are superb scopes and either one would work great.

Swaro is a bit more versatile owing to the magnification range.

Zeiss FL will have a slight edge in pure optical quality and in low light performance (due to the larger objective lens).

Pick what is more important to you.

ILya

I personally like the zoom ratio alot more. If light transmission was that big of a deal I would just turn the Swaro down to 6 power. Wink

Just to confuse you even more Ill throw my 2 cents in.

If you  like long range shooting the Zeiss Rapid Z800 recticle is a piece of cake to master. Its the easiest long range recticle system on the market right now IMO.
