I been thinking about a Zwari Z3. Any opinions on this scope?  How do they compare to the Conquest and are they worth the extra $500.00 Lastly, would I be at a disadvantage with a Z3 3-9x36 in low light situations as compared to the Conquest 3-9x40? I am guessing I would not notice the difference.

I drought you'll have any problems at low light with the z3 compared to the conquest, the 4mm in difference will be easily offset by the better optics of the z3.  The conquest is a very nice scope and the z3 even better, but only you can determine if the extra $500.00 is well spent.

+1 on the Z3. It's definitely very nice.

I like the slim compact size of the Z3. Never liked the big bell shaped scopes.

The size and weight will be the biggest difference. The Z3 is considerably slimmer and lighter.

In my after-dark optics test the Z3 3-9x rated a 7, exactly the same as the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40.

Thanks John,

The Z3 is the scope I am leaning towards. Although, I almost bought a Kahles CL 3-9X42 today.

Decisions, decisions...its tough to by something without looking at and through it first.

Another major difference is eye relief. Both have constant eye relief, but that of the Conquest is 4" and that of the Z3 is 3".

Three inches is generally plenty for most big game rifles except the larger magnums.

this is not an easy one...Snow and low light...Or fall colors and low light, or pines and low light, or rocks and low light...many variables "Low light"...

I might say Zeiss just for the Contrast & CA...

What about ED something or other...

John,  It would sit on a 338-06 so I should be fine.

338L,  pines, alders and willows at low light

Of course, I am a Kahles fan......I think that CL would comp to either the Conquest or Swaro.

I haven't tested tested the Zeiss Conquest for CA but I will say that the Swaro's contrast is "top shelf".  Thunbs Up

Over double the coin for the Z3, but indeed the Swaro scope is a trimmer package.  The Z3 is  a nice looking piece of equipment, but you will pay for it.

not sure it's fair.... valid(?) to compare the Z3 to the Conquest just on the "7" test.... other factors go into it costing more.   Not sure I said that right... maybe John will explain better.

Tip69,

338-06 is my choice for an all around Alaska gun. Most people like the 338 Win. Mag but I hate recoil and muzzle brakes. I also like 5 bullet over 3 in case a brownie comes sniffing around camp or a downed moose.

All my guns are more than special.  I don't have a supermarket, Costco, or shopping mall within 200 miles. Only by a 200 mile boat or plane ride. So a sustainable way of life is vital.

Nothing against the Swaro, I would like one myself.
