I currently have  a Zeiss conquest 4-14X44 and was thinking about getting a swarovski american 4-12X50 . Is it worth the 350 more. I know nothing about the swarovski american, but thought it didnt look like it had an ajustable objective. Also does anyone know anything about the ballistic reticle on the swarovski item #52033. Is it better or worse than the TDS below it? Are these the same reticle?  Any help would be great, I would really like to know how the swarovski american 1inch tube compares to the zeiss conquest 1 inch tube. Thanks in advance for the inputs..

No it isnt worth the extra. In fact check out the Kahles American with the TDS reticle. I have one and love it. I bought it from SWFA. Good luck

I cant find the american anymore, there are a couple on the sample list, but none with the tds reticle. The only ones with that reticle are only a 3-9X42. What about the 1" 2.5-10X50 leupold boone and crocket, how do they stack up.

The Zeiss 4-14x44 is a very good scope, the Swaro 4-12x50 is an even better one. I like the side focus on the Zeiss for a Varmint gun and that is what I have mine on but for a big game hunting rifle I prefer to not have an ajustable AO. The 4-12 Swaro is the best 1" non-AO hunting scope in that magnification range that I've used. I have a few of them with the TDS reticle and like it quite a bit. Unfortunately the scuttlebutt is that Swaro is getting tired of dealing with TD Smith and so came up with thier ballistic reticle to get around having to deal with him and keep paying him royalties. I haven't tried one of the Ballstic plexes yet. The Leupy B&C reticle is basically a knockoff of the TDS and therefore is probably a decent reticle but I would rather have the Zeiss or the Swaro over a Leupy.

If you can afford the Swaro buy it because it's a little better scope but if not know that the Zeiss is also very good especially for the price.......................DJ

I've also debated over this. In fact, I continue to look back and forth between the 4.5-14x44 Zeiss and the 6-18x50 Swar American Hunter on the sample list. Just not sure the Swar is worth the extra 400-500.

When in comes to optics, take as much money as you can afford, and then add some more. A few months/years after the purchase you will be very glad you bought what you wanted/needed, rather then what you could afford.
