interested in 2 scopes

both same spec

1.5-6x42, 30mm tube, 4a reticle

Kahles c vs Swarovski PH

I have a CL 3-10x50 with a #4 reticle and love it on my Sako 270 and have about given up on sub $1000 illuminated reticle scope for my 6.8 for night hog hunting and am considering just getting a really nice lower powered scope as above

anyone had a chance to do a direct A/B comparison between the 2?

What's your budget???

Here's illumination for under $600.00

http://www.swfa.com/pc-7279-185-bushnell-25-10x50-elite-4200-30mm-rifle-scope.a
spx

You can always look at a Trijicon for under a grand.

http://www.swfa.com/c-227-trijicon-accu-point-rifle-scopes.aspx

or a Zeiss at around $1,500.00+

http://www.swfa.com/pc-8862-258-zeiss-15-6x42-victory-diavari-30mm-rifle-scope.aspx

Between the two you listed, I personally will always go Swaro the main reason being that Kahles dosn't seem to have their act together as of late.

I wish Trijicon made a 1.5-6

A 1-6 Z6 would be my ideal scope but that's out of what I can justify spending

I have looked hard at  the Zeiss on the samplelist

Kahles CSX 1.1-4 has the same  circle dot that the Z6 comes with. and $500 less than the Swarovski. This should be a good scope.

Chris sold me the Millett 1-4 3 weeks ago. It is very tight on the power ring but it should be ok for hogs. And under $200

I have tried the Elite 4200 1.25-4 lit german #4, Burris Eurodiamond lit #4 (on my son's gun and a great scope at low light/night though not as bright and sharp of course as my Kahles CL 3-10x50), Meopta Kdot (nice, true 1x, too much ill for night hog hunting), IOR Valdada 1.1-4, not that impressed with the glass and the reticle is overpowering for night hunting, better suited for combat in an urban environment, ACOG TA33 (great optic), Eotech with magnifier

What I want is GREAT glass, wide FOV, quick yet precise reticle and not to bright of a reticle for hunting or too busy and it's distracting

Sound like you want another Kahles but your "listed want's" tell me it's a z6 with a simple but bold reticle. I could be wrong but I don't think you ever told us your price budget. Below is a z6 from the sample list. (I'm betting it's band new with OEM warranty)
Happy Hunting.

Have a Kahles 1.5-6x42 Helia C and think highly of it.  I should have a Swaro PH 1.5-6x42 coming in next week so I hope to do some comparisons with them.  Both will have the 7A reticle.  The Swaro will go on my 375 H&H and the Kahles on my Contender G2 45 cal black powder for woods hunting.

For what it's worth, my Trijicon 1.25-4x24 has the same field of view as the Swaro.  Power means nothing at that point if you're looking for a certain amount of FOV.  The Trij is a nice scope for the price as well.

Definitely write us up a review of your comparison when you get the Swaro.  I would be interested to hear it.

 You want "great" glass.

The Swarovski PH or Zeiss Diavari for the top quality glass.
 Other features are debatable.

Might as well lump the z6 in there since, like the Diavari Victory for Zeiss, the z6 is Swarovski's flagship.

Have used the Trij at nite when chasing coyotes (now we just need to get them close enough to see).  The tritium triangle is pretty sweet.  If I didn't pick up the Kahles and Swaro for such an awesome price, I would have gone to the Trij with the #4 reticle.

I will probably have to get a Tr21-3 with the #4 reticle

man, I can across a Kahles C 1.1-4 with #4 for 350 bucks today but it was already sold!
that would have been a sweet deal!

From those two: Swarovski, but my personal preference is Zeiss.

Swaro came in today.   First glance looking it over.  Tube, size and weight are the same as the Kahles.  Eye relief is a bit shorter on the Swaro, but it has the spring/shock load eye cup.   Reticle subtensions are a bit smaller on the Swaro (about 0.75" at 100 yards on the thick posts), but negligible in my eyes.  The windage and elevation turrets go to Swaro for their ease in resetting to zero.

Comparisons in the outdoors will have to wait.  Deer season starts on Sat.  I hope to get to it soon, but it may be a bit...
