I have a lead on a used pair of binoculars. I am wanting these for hunting and have really been wanting a pair of 10x but don't want to spend the money. My budget is $1,000 and he is asking $875 for these. Here is his description. Let me know your thoughts.
Binoculars just back from Swarovski - had complete rebuild including new swarobright glass, new body and guaranteed waterproof - basically these are brand new binoculars! Swarovski value at $1200.00. |

Those are the older SLC's, not the 8x30 SLCneu which would have the latest greatest coatings from swaro. It is a very good bino, but IMO not worth the asking price. That would be a little high for me even if it were the SLCneu model. The 8x30 SLCneu I tried out for a week had very marginal eye relief which made an otherwise great binocular unusable to me. You should try one out if possible before you buy it. There is better stuff available, IMO, for less money anyway nowadays.

The SLC you have there, with a rebuild does have the latest coatings that were available on the SLC NEU, they were discontinued in 2010, I believe. I have one just like it, and Swaro. does replace everything from the armor to all lenses and the prisms. Mine has a 2011 Ser.#. The last of the 8x30 SLC NEU's sold for around $899 new, so the price being asked is plenty high. If you want to get a 10x42 SLC, you can find a nice used SLC for that price. You do have to shop around, but they are out there. Remember, the newer ones are better, as they have had coatings updates along the way. You want Swarobright prism coatings, and that means 2003 or newer. Good luck in your search. |
