I have a A/V in 3-10x42 and it is quite nice, if you can find a nice used one for a good price even better.

I have 2 of these scopes as well (3-9X36 and 3-10X42) and I've been very happy with them.  Optically, they are fantastic!

AV = "American Variable."  They were so named because they have 1" tube diameter to appeal to the American market.

I have had a 3-10x42 AV for a few months on a lightweight .325 WSM.  It has held up well.  I've been spinning the stock turret on it to get me out to 600 yards and I must say, it tracks very well.

No negatives to report but I'll add, for practical purposes a 3-9x40 Conquest hangs right with it optically at half the price or less.  With that said, there's times one of those is too bulky or heavy.  In that case, paying extra to get the Swarovski can at least be justfiable to oneself.  I know.  I did it.  Cool

By the way these were recently available "out there" new for $799.  I think they are still around at various places being blown out to make way for progress... a good time to buy one, and that pricing is probably temporarily suppressing used value so a DAMN good time to buy a used one, I'd presume!
