I am considering a new scope purchase for my RRA AR-15. It’s a varmint rifle (.223 w 18inch bull barrel) I have not bought a scope in a while and I am amazed by the number of manufactures. I currently have a Swarovski scope on a .300RUM and love it. However, I would be open to other suggestions in the $1200 range if something is better. I typically shoot 200-600 yards out in varying light conditions.

Thanks

Though they aren't sold here, I'd look at Nightforce 2.5-10x32, it is a great little scope and about perfect for an AR (in my opinion.)

Swaro makes a damn fine optic and no weapon would do you wrong with an appropriately powered Swaro on top.

For your AR, I'd look for top-end magnification in the ballpark of 10X, no need to have 18X on a round that rainbows to get to 600 yards.

Give a few details about what is needed and wanted and we can be more specific.

I too am looking at scopes for my AR, its a Bushmaster Predator, Fluted 20" barrel. Im not sure what to buy yet. I may put my 3x10x42 Swaro on it. I just sent it in to the factory to have the ballistic Reticle installed on it. Im thinking about a higher powered Swaro for my 270 wsm, like a 4x12..

I have a Swaro 6-18x50 TDS on a 204, gives you the best view of a prairie dogs insides.  For prairie dogs, if thats what you are going to do, it is hands down the best out there.
