I just purchased a Sauer 202 30-06 and am trying to choose a scope for it.  It will be used most for Whitetail hunting from a stand in both wooded and open areas.  Shots will be between 50 & 150 yards.  I also hope to travel west for an Elk hunt some day.

Right now I am leaning towards a Swarovski A-line 3-10  42mm Plex.  Are there any other scopes that I should look at that will better fit my needs or perform better?  This scope is pretty much the top of my budget.

Also, recommendations on bases and rings would be very much appreciated.

Kirk

Swarovski is about as good as it gets and you are in the ideal power range and objective size.  I would get a Leupold one piece base with twist-in rings.

I love the Swaro A line scopes. Nice and light!!

I would go with Conetrol rings though. I like Loopie rings, but Conetrol would be just the ticket for that rifle/scope setup..my .02

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Your search for a better scope would be a long one. Buy it and never look back!!!

All,

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  You gave me the small push I needed on this.

Cheaptrick.  Where do I find the Conetrol rings ??

Regards,

Kirk

Give them a call or email, and they will get you set up. Conetrol rings are the best hunting rings I hace ever seen.
