So, it just went on a rifle about 20 minutes ago.  First impressions:

1.  It is bright.  Very bright.  And very clear.  Great resolution, great definition, great image edge to edge.

2.  It is light and compact, perfect for a light-weight hunting rig.

3.  The reticle is fantastic (ballistic plex) and the supporting drop reference stickers are fairly inclusive with 6 different stickers for my caliber (.270) based on  bullet manufacturer, projectile, and velocity.

4.  It is probably the nicest, clearest hunting optic I own and will definitely not be my last Swarovski purchase.

If it shoots like ass, I'll let you know; but so far, it is a great optic - and worth every penny!

Rancid-
What made you buy the 3-10x42 vs. the 4-12x50? Just curious, as I am trying to decide between the two myself right now.
You will have to let me know how you like the TDS plex reticle once you shoot it.

RC's scope is not the TDS plex it is the Ballistic Plex, a better reticle IMO.

I would have picked that magnification too, 3 on the low 10 on the high(10 on the

high plenty for a hunting scope and 3 on the low better than 4 for close quarters

with a larger field of view.)

My fault Trinidad, I didn't read close enough.
What are you thoughts on why the Ballistic Plex is a better reticle than the TDS?

Better aiming and ranging capabilities and with the dots better low light visibility.

One more question for you. Is the ballistic plex a new recticle by swaro? I know Burris has been making one. I guess I assumed he was referring to the TDS because I haven't heard of the swaro ballistic plex. They don't show it on their webpage either.
Any info you could provide would be appreciated.

New, the one made by burris is inferior in desighn. You would have to upgrade to a ballistic mil dot with burris

to achieve a similar advantage.

The reticle is great, very well defined, very sharp, and small (I don't go for the heavy reticles.)

And I didn't want the 50mm because this is a scope for a 7-pound stalking gun.  The scope has to be relatively slim, nothing to hang up, and nothing to throw the gun's balance off.  Of all the hunting scopes I have owned and used, this is definitely one of the very best.

My background is tactical scopes, this is something of a departure for me.  I plan to shoot it soon.  The rifle is very accurate, I expect great things of this combo.

Does Swarovski make a tactical scope?

Not currently, in the past there were some rare examples of renamed Kahles ZF scopes

with the Swarovski name.
