hey guys, I have a chance to buy a pair of 10 x 42 SLC used , but in great condition. The gentleman tells me he believes they were manufactured in 2013. I just want to make sure that they have the HD lens coating and nothing has been changed or updated on the SLC model since 2013?
Thank you!

There was a model change in the later SLC, the first model was named the SLC HD and
had 2 tone armor, green with a black center, and later the SLC model was introduced. Both are similar, but they cheapened it up a bit with the newer model. The newer one has a shorter minimum focusing, different housing, but updated AR coatings, so maybe a bit brighter. So, either one is a very good choice. It is easy to find the year of mfr. of Swarovski binoculars, you add the number 30 to the first 2 digits of the ser. number.

the serial is D8910286... add 30 to 89=119. Would that make these 2019 models?

Yes, that would be correct. But the seller mentioned something else, so I don't knowwhat to make of that. Have you had them in hand, or going by photos, the box and thebinocular have ser. #'s ?

he did post a picture of the serial number on the binoculars. It is an eBay seller, but the guy happens to live about an hour from my house. So I will definitely have them in hand in purchase them face-to-face. I was planning on also calling Swarovski USA tomorrow and having them run the serial number. They've done it a couple times for me already and they gladly do it. The Story Goes that he sent a different pair in to the factory to get repaired and they sent him a brand new set. But not any paperwork on them.
And I really appreciate you helping me out here

they also look black and color. Which I have never seen before. But I haven't really paid that much attention to it until now

Swarovski does a refurbishment, and does furnish a new ser.#, so now that makes sense.
I found the auction, and that is the older model, and is not HD. The seller mentions scratches and that hurts the value. |

that's weird. I wonder if he's got two different postings. Because he mentions no scratches and says these are brand-new. I would definitely not buy any with scratches. Here's the link

There were a few model changes... from the e-bay link you provided it’s an older model SLC, I have the same one but 7x42. It’s not an HD model, it’s a little heavier, the focus wheel is totally different, etc. It’s still a really nice bino but I would not pay 1,300.00+ when there are so many new bino choices out there.
