I am looking for a used pair of binoculars for hunting.  Could you compare what you
would recommend in the 2 kinds mentioned above.  Used they are both priced similarly.

Six or seven years ago (like your older models) i much preferred the Trinovids to the SLC.
The Trinovids had better contrast and color rendition, and the image was a bit more vivid and life-like.
The SLC did have a field of view with less curvature and distortion, but i saw more color fringing in them, and the colors were not quite so bright and true. In terms of sharpness and brightness, i saw no difference.

After 10 years with my 10x42 trinovids, I still appreciate the tank like construction and fantastic views.  There may be some a smidge "better" nowadays (I've actually seen a few), but the trinovids are still fantastic.

If you disquised them somehow, could anyone tell which was which when looking through them?
