I stopped in at a local sporting goods store today, it was an eerie experience. People were standing in lines waiting patiently to purchase firearms and ammunition for themselves and their household. All types of people. Different ages, races, and social classes- some spending money I'm sure they couldn't afford to. Everyone in that store was there for a single purpose, to secure something before the government takes it away.
Today really creeped me out, I guess because it made it real. People are getting ready, losing confidence in the government, getting prepared...crazy. I would say on a 'WTSHTF scale' of 1 ( "1" being a fan with no sh*t) to 10 ("10" being a fan with a big steaming cup of sh*t thrown into it)- we are at about a 6.

The polite version goes like this:

"When the digestive byproducts contact the rotary oscillator"

You can even say that in church without getting the stinkeye from the guy in the fancy robe. Big Grin

It's already started.  I was digging around the internet last night for a couple of 30 round AR mags...one website had Magpul 30 rdr's for $14, another had the exact same clip for $29.  It didn't really matter since they were both sold out.

That should say $30, not 20.

Anything black, semi-automatic, and holds a 30 round mag is flying off the shelf. I just came from KCR, and it took me over an hour just to ask a question, because they wer to busy selling guns and magazines.

I have been considering buying a battle rifle for a long time now, but I have been essentially paralyzed by indecision.

I don't want an AR-15, I want an AR-10 or some other 7.62 rifle. I like the KelTec RFP, but I don't like to buy a gun without handling it first and you simply can't find those anywhere I have looked.

I will wait until the panic buying is done and then, when the legislation to ban them doesn't appear but production has already been ramped up; I will buy on the price crash.

I wouldn't bet on it.
The Pres. is betting he can get gun control pushed through fairly quickly while emotions are high, and with his record, I wouldn't bet against him.
I just came from KCR, and one of my friends there said if you want a high cap mag and can find it, buy it and don't ask the price; they are going fast. They were lined up buying guns and mag.s; took me over an hour just to ask a question.

He still needs congress, which means he has to get it past an awful lot of people from deep red districts. Safe districts.

Can he?

It's possible.

Nothing is going to happen before January, at which point every person who owns a gun needs to personally call their congress-critter and make it plain that they want LESS gun control, not more.

The bottom line is, if Gun control worked, the children of Sandy Hook would be alive today.

It's past time to stop being afraid to say that because people might think you're heartless.

Screw that. Every gun control advocate has blood on their hands because they make it safe for these nut jobs to accomplish their evil goals.

I did a quick search and it looks like Obama could tweak the way background checks are done and what information is shared through executive order, but that's about it.

Here's the article...have no idea how credible it is.

It needs to be made clear to all in Washington that an executive order will be an act of outright treason. Treason that will not be allowed to stand.  Legislators need to understand it could lead open warfare without their action to prevent it.

SVT -
There are limits to that and frankly, it might be a good thing if he overreached.
Especially if he doesn't take Boner's deal. (I refuse to pretend Boner isn't a RINO who shouldn't be speaker.) If he rejects the deal, people will VERY quickly find out what that means to them personally, and there are limits to the ability or even willingness of the media to protect him, no matter how much they like him.

BELT -
I think this is a different political climate, in spite of the recent media driven hysteria.
If not, let it come to a head. It won't really matter much in two years anyway.

BUT!

We have to grow a set and say the hard things, the things that will make people angry at first.

Like...

"If Gun control worked, the Sandy Hook Victims would be alive right now."

and

"The only effective way to stop a rampaging madman with a gun; is with a gun."

and

"If you don't think you can trust your child's teacher to get trained and licensed in order to be lawfully armed in the classroom; why do you trust that teacher NOW?"

I stopped at my regular gun shop today to look around.  I was in there a week and a half ago and I bet they had over 30 ARs.  Not a single one now, i asked if they had any mags and they were sold out of them as well.

But they did have a bolt gun I have been considering for a while.  Big Grin

Not a thing.  I am one of those slow buyers that has to go play with the gun 10 times before I buy it.  2 down, 8 more to go.

Here's to hoping someone buys it before me.  Bucky

Ok - everyone calm down if you didnt need this stuff last week, before this shooting, you probably dont need it now so take a deep breath and exit the panic mode, inch back away from the Fisical Cliff and awesh*t Shocked what if the Mayans really were right. Devil  See Wink it doesnt really matter anyway.  Survival is a state of mind - just be thankful you dont have a TRex chasing you, the rest of it is all good, you cant change what is going to happen, so FEAR NOT.  Improvise Adapt and Overcome and in the process please remember to vote these fear mongers out of office and find someone who doesnt think that as long as there is paper he can write checks and make new rules for other men.
