I would say the 10 power for the .308 would be perfect to 700 even to 900 or 1000 depending on conditions and type of ammo. Good Luck!

You may want to go to the other SWFA  site www.mil-dot.com  for a lot more information on using the mil-dot on your scope and if you want information to take to the range with you the mil-dot master is listed in the

www.RifleScopes.com  web site under accessories here

Good shooting

DEAD_BEAT,

I purchased a Savage 12BVSS in 308 a coupla months ago.  It's no longer part of their regular production, at least in that caliber, so you may have trouble finding one.  Anyway, I went with the Farrell standard base, Warne QD rings, and the Super Sniper 10x42.  The rings were the medium height ones because I wanted to make sure the flip open covers wouldn't be a problem.  There's more than enough room, and I could've probably went with the low rings.  Hope this helps.

Oh, BTW, you'll love the rifle.

Not to my knowledge.

If you have some pics, I would be more than happy to post them for you, or I could "try" to guide you through it, so long as you don't get mad at me........

(My computer skills are...lacking.)

cheaptrick - I'm sure my computer skills are worse than yours.  I saw the button above my post that is for uploading images, but the message said the file size was too large.  Even if I knew how to shrink it, I'm still not sure how to go about getting it in the body of my message.  It'll probably be Monday before I can get back on the forum, but I'll look for your reply.  Thanks in advance.

If you listen real closely do you have one big click and one smaller click per every 1/4 MOA? I have had 3 in a row do this.

I have posted a video of the last two SS10x42 scopes I have received. Listen closely and you can hear the "double click" it only happens rotating in one direction. The other direction has one click per 1/4 MOA.

If anyone knows how to fix this please help!!! This is 3 scopes in a row that do this.

Here is the link to the video. Listen closely and it is easily apparent what Im talking about.

Thanks in Avance, please help and comment, I need it!

Couple weeks back I just received a new replacement 10ss from swfa for a different problem then after watching that video you've got great clicks compared to mine.  This one has about no clicks at all, very disappointed.

cheaptrick - Just sent you a pm.  BTW, I actually graduated from Auburn, just living in TN.  Didn't mean to hijack deadbeats thread here.  I'll start a new one when I learn how to post the pics.

Adam, there is no need to post this is every thread you can find. You already started a thread on this subject and I just sent a PM to Cheaptrick and Chris. I imagine they will review the problems and fix them accordingly - if there is a problem at all. My SS side focus has the "double clicks" you explain but it performs flawlessly. They only show up when intentially turning the turrets slowly, I never noticed it until you brought it up and I have had mine for over a year. If you still aren't happy after you shoot it send it back for a refund...

Eric,

Question:  Does your loud or quiet click make the actual adjustment?

I am posting on the two forums that I feel have knowledgeable people who can help me.  I am posting to try to find a way to get rid of the double clicks, or to try and see if I am having bad luck with this model scope.  As far as I know that is the exact purpose of a message board.  I post more info as I get more info, and I would hope that anyone else would do the same.  I started by asking questions and I am keeping people updated on the progress or with any developments I have.

I have been in touch with SWFA, great customer service.  I showed them the video this afternoon and they said that it should NOT do the double click.  They also said that the 10x SS scopes in inventory are doing it, and they are returning those to the factory.  They do stand behind their Super Sniper Scope 100%.  As is evident by their choice to return the rest of the batch on their own and not wait for complaints.  That is great business practice as far as I am concerned.

None of my messages were ever intened to read as attacks or "flames."  I was just simply frustrated by the fact that I have had 4 defective SS scopes in a row.  SWFA seems fair, and has acted honestly and honorably in their dealings with me.  These are great people, who do the right thing.  I have a buddy who has used his SS for years and never had an issue.  I just wanted mine to be the same way.

Adam

Here is the update I got today.  The new batch does not double click.  However there is a click then the knob falls into a groove after the click.  It seems to me like the double click happens, just not audibly like last time.  I was told the adjustable SS scopes will hopefully be designed so this is not an issue.

Per SWFA recommendations I am going to mount the one I have and see witch click makes the adjustment. I'll keep everyone posted on developments, but it seems that Super Snipers are manufactured so there is an audible and tactile click, then it falls into a groove after.  From my experience this has never happened on another scope I have owned.

Adam, have you ever mounted any of the SS's up and actually shot with them?

Just pull the turrets and clean out the grease.  Then it will click nicely.
