I have heard alot about this scope and am quite impressed with some of the reviews ive read from the press.  Does anyone have any personal expierience with the scope for deer hunting specifically?  Im thinking about buying one soon as deer season starts in a little over a month.

welcome to OT quite a few people here have experience with the Super Sniper but most don` use it for hunting, you may want to PM Cheaptrick he has a lot of experence with it. I would think for deer hunting you would be better served by one of the variable scopes like a 3-9

It is even less money

Good hunting

Ive taken the Super Sniper 20x for a hunt and I have nailed a coyote with the 10x Super Sniper. It all depends on how you hunt. If you hunt from a tree stand or a blind and make shots using a good solid rest - then I say go for it buy a 10x Super Sniper and enjoy that you can dial in correction for distance. If you stalk game in heavy cover I say go to one of these :

TR21 Trijicon 1.25-4x24 Accu-Point Rifle Scope Trijicon 1.25-4x24 Accu-Point Rifle Scope
  • Matte
  • Amber Triangle BAC
  • 1"
SWFA: $572.95

TR21R Trijicon 1.25-4x24 Accu-Point Rifle Scope Trijicon 1.25-4x24 Accu-Point Rifle Scope
  • Matte

And if you just need an all around scope the Zeiss 3-9

5214609920 Zeiss 3-9x40 Conquest Rifle Scope Zeiss 3-9x40 Conquest Rifle Scope
  • Matte
  • Z-Plex
  • 1"
  • Etched Glass
  • 2nd Plane

I have the SS10x42 and love it however I use it for shooting at 150 yards and beyond.  Its a scope you use on a rifle that you don't carry too far.  The scope weighs over 20 oz plus you will most likely put it on a heavier barrel rifle so it's not a package you will throw around like you would a "deer rifle".

The Super Sniper is a great scope but for deer hunting I recommend something else.

From what you described, that rifle with the 10x Super Sniper will make a perfect deer sniping rifle.

That's pretty much how I us my super sniper, hunting from a stand were shots are long and the rest of the year its for paper targets.

Using the mill-dots adds another element to shooting making it more fun.

Good luck with it.

Ive never used a mil-dot scope.  Is it similar to using the pins on a compound bow?

You may want to go to another SWFA site

www.mil-dot.com

and then if you are going to do a lot of distance shooting, different loads and rifles you may want The

http://www.swfa.com/c-294-mil-dot-master.aspx for in the field calculations

Hope this helps

I have a SS 16X on my Remington 700P .308 and love it. I use it mainly for wild hogs but also paper punching and hopefully, whitetails this fall. I use the mil dots to estimate bullet drop, though, not for ranging, prefer the hand held Leica for that. It's quicker than fiddling with the knobs and clicks.
