Just ordered a 10x42mm Super Sniper with standard height (.823) Badger rings from SWFA for my Remington VSLH .308...

Miss Black Betty Bam Balam...

Yipee!!!!!

Been over a year since I last fondled Betty, so I'm pretty jacked!

It's a terrible thing to fiberglass the action on a weapon and NOT be able to shoot it afterwards. You know??

cheaptrick......

Standing by...

Hey CT,

 Happy Anniversary,

Mine made an unscheduled pit stop on the left coast, but should be here Friday. I still in debate mode about rings.

Badger Ord. or TPS? I know, most here favor the badgers, but the Tactical Precision Systems TRS series really look like they might give Badger a run for their money and save some change to boot. TPS low rings are .925

I have a black betty too.

Many thanks.

I affectionately refer to my wife as the "Warden", but I'm the luckiest guy on the planet!!

She's tops and I'm so glad she puts up with me.

TPS rings:

I have never seen a pair, but some guys over at Sniper's Hide really like them.

I've read really good reviews too.

They say they are top notch and cheaper than Badgers.

One thing I will say about them is that they are not making enough of them!

Not sure if they have a big military contract they are scrambling to fill (which I doubt) or if they are a very small operation.

All the vendors that sell TPS rings ALWAYS seem to be out of stock.

Phil who is somehow affiliated w/ TPS, post's regularly on Sniper's Hide and seems to be a nice fella.

I like Badger and always will.

They are flat out the best rings I ever used.

As I've said many times, I change out scopes a ton and Badgers never have failed me at any level.

Expensive?

Yes, but buying Badger rings and rails has become a cost of doing business for me.

Many good rings out there, but I always go back to Marty @ Badger.

Good people.....

One thing that I really like about the super sniper is the price. I dont feel bad about taking it out through the brush and all the rough treatment that I dont really want to do with my mark 4s. I had my 14 yr old do a drill that I like start at 600yds fire 5 take cover reload adjust scope for 500 run to 500 shoot five take cover reload adjust the scope for 600yds run to 600 fire 5.  You can work in other distances as the shooter progresses. Meanwhile I act as the spotter laser ranging the target and calling wind. In a couple of years when he's old enough to be in the Guard he will be proficient. My daughter is already an Air Guard Nurse and my 16 yr old has been trying to decide which branch of the service he wants to go into.

Yes Sir!! I like it!!

Good glass quality, great turret knobs, very robust, but not too heavy like a USO.

I would have no problem taking this rig deer hunting.

The Standard Badger rings are the ticket!! Just the right height.

No box test yet. I seriously doubt it will fail that.

I bore sighted the rifle at about 25 yards at the house.

I'll never need my 20 MOA rail with the Super Sniper!!

Elevation galore!!

I shot some 168gr. Amax hand loads. Had a few sub MOA groups in there.

Man, I'm rusty!!

Been about a year and a half since I shot a bolt gun.

I'll try to get a few pics together and post them.

Where you been lately??

cheaptrick, What do you think of that Remington VS. It seems like a lot of rifle for the money. But all I've done is felt one up at the local retailer. Worth the last slot in the safe?

Brother, I think they discontinued the VS now. They do have another version, but I don't remember the name.

I really like this rifle. I bought it soley for the purpose of replacing the barrel with a Broughton or a Lother Walther, but decided to keep it because it so user friendly.

I just wanted a LH action to work with.

As I've said, it will shoot sub moa IF I do my part.

My last 5 shot groups Sat. came in around MOA with a couple sub MOA groups at the end.

Not bad for a factory stick.....

I have reworked the trigger and glassed the action.

Cheaptrick,

Here's how you box test a Super Sniper scope.  First you need to prep it;

Take it out on the street, you and your son play soccer with it.  Half an hour will do for our purposes.

Throw it up into the air forcefully about a dozen times.  Don't worry about catching it, it'll bounce......alittle.

Bang it on a table you don't mind denting...............much

When you get to the range, as you set targets up kick the scope downrange with you..............and back.

Now you're ready to box test the scope.

None of mine have ever failed when treated like this.............................................
and I didn't mention the scary parts

I was thinking of this rifle, I guess. It's SF though.

Very cool rifle!!

The SPS probably is good to go, but I like a BDL instead of a CDL.

It doesn't matter which Remington I get....It's a good one!!

I have had the best luck with Rem. rifles.

The Sendero II is out now and should be nice. As popular as it was, (I had one), I was rather surprised to them discontinue them for a while.

All the best!!

Cheaptrick,

Dude you have been on this fourm since god was a cpl, I cant believe your just getting a SS.

Just kidding. Guess we'll have to send you some lawyers, guns, and money.

Youve got the BO base and rings, now your 700 needs Marty's detach mags system. I finally broke down and got the long action version, it was well woth the wait.

Take it easy brother.

Joe

Joe:

I can't believe "The Warden" made me wait so long to get one either!

$300 for a scope of this quality makes me feel like I stole it.

Hell, even she thinks I got a great scope for the money!!

How's bidness??

I see you been turning out some great looking sticks.

Cheaptrick,

Those are some great scopes especially for the price. They are clear, track, and are rugged what more can you ask for. Post how she dose on the box test, mine have all tracked even with my MK IV's.

Business is good which means not a lot of time for shooting lately. I did take the 300 out after I got the BO mag system, man is that thing sweet! 5 rds of 300 winny in a detach mag, you gotta love it

Did you see that .308 AR I posted a photo of? With factory match ammo its a 1/2 moa gun, gauranteed. I think it is going from a "I'd like to have" to a "I need". I shot George's personal one and it shot like a laser.

Well I just sat down to reply to email's, gotta get back ot the shop now. Congrats on the new set up.

Joe

I'm looking for the photo (can't find it)- I'm reading GAPrecision  .308  Precision AR-10 http://www.gaprecision.net/content/ar10.php

Need - may not be a strong enough word.  Makes me want to drive down to Kansas City right now. I can't believe the semi auto is also 1/2 moa guaranteed also. I've been drooling on the computer screen looking at GAP and Tac Ops guns for the last month. I want a rifle that will stay on the target from 600 to 1000yds but 3 to 4 rounds just isn't enough magazine capacity. Then add some of your digital finish MirageFlage pattern colors; stone, tigerstripe brown, tigerstripe green  or in MARPAT.

Oh  Yea -- Thats what I'm talking about!!!

For about half the money, get basically the same gun from DPMS, the Panther LR-308. http://www.dpmsinc.com/308_series.asp I've talked to and emailed the guys there and they say 5/8" @ 100 with the right ammo for any of their guns
