Hi there, I just purchased a Remington model 700 in 30-06. I'm looking to make it an accute deer/elk rifle. So, I was wondering what would make for a nice scope. I'll be hunting mule deer mainly and occasionally elk so range and recoil are going to be variable.

I don't want to break the bank, I just want a reasonably priced scope that will work well. Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What do you consider not breaking the bank?

You can really save some money, and get good optics off the samplelist.

Around $500.00 is what I'm shooting for, no pun intended.

Zeiss conquest is what you need to be looking at. Good optics at a respectable price. The 3-9x40 conquest can be had at 399.95 on the samplelist. There's also a 4.5-14x44 for 599.95.

The 3-9x40 would take care of every situation for me. If you think you would need the extra power for those once in a while elk hunts the 4.5-14 would be a good broad power range to have.
