What are you guys loading for the 300blk and 308win for suppressed subsonic stuff?

I have some tight group and 168vld's loaded for a 308win but haven't tested them yet.
I'm also looking at these bullets for hunting with subs  http://www.outlawstatebullets.com/index.html
so what bullets and stuff are ya'll using?

300blk: 208-Amax over 8.1 gr of lil gun.  It won't cycle reliably in my 16" (pistol gas) but will cycle in a 12" - strangely.  It shoots well, but you will get some stringing since the powder doesn't exactly fill the capacity.  Or I get vertical stringing.  I stick with it because it is quiet, more so than other powders that would cycle the action.  I had lots of issues with H100, I don't recommend it, but some love it.

308:  I did some for REMF awhile back, they were 175 GMTs over trail boss, I forget the charge but can check.  Trail boss is nice because it does fill the case capacity. Be aware of your twist and what it can stabilize, and always ALWAYS check subs on paper BEFORE you run them suppressed.  If not clean holes, don't even think of screwing something onto the muzzle.

With subs, it is all shot placement.  All.  I have run 208s backwards and they hit a little harder but it is still all about placement.

The twist are 1-10 in 308 and 1-8 for 300blk. I have some 208 amax and some 210 and 168 Berger. I'll get some trial boss to add to the tight group load I'm going to try. all should be stable for ether rifle I would guess.

So far the 300blk wont cycle subs but dose supers fine. I'll post my findings when I get a chance to run a few loads. It still new with maybe 150 round thru it. Might just still be tight.

208 Amax, 9.4grs H110.

FPS: cycles well in both 10.5" and 16" pistol length barrels.

I wonder what the expansion is on that bad boy at subsonic velocities is? I'm looking at their new 100gr 300blk designed bullet for hunting now.

I run them in my 300WM too, if that helps any.

I have never used the 208s yet. I do have 2 new boxes but also got a a bunch of 168 and 210 bergers just in that I normally shoot. so the 208's might get put on back burner or sold or traded..

I had 10 boxes, Mike from over on the Hide was getting out of the 30 cal game and sold them to me due to ease of a face to face sale. I'm down to 4 boxes left. Need to go find some more.

I use Palmetto Projectiles for both .308 and 300BLK. Bought direct from Joel at Palmetto - fast, great service.

Trailboss for the 308 and Accurate 5744 for the 300BLK. I could not find 1680, but the more expensive 5744 is really good stuff. 5744 meters well, clean and after reading the manufacturer's application detail seems to be a good fit.

300BLK upper is 10.5". It cycles with a can, does not cycle without a can using subsonic loads.

Started high and worked down - settled on 1055 to 1075 FPS for both. Light crimp. Accurate has 300BLK loads for subsonic and you can download the PDFs from their site. Lots of folks use Trailboss so it is easy to get starting points.

2 days ago I was x's and tens at 200 yards with the Palmettos on top of Trailboss in .308 with a can. I zero for supersonic loads and hold for subsonic. @100 yards, 5 mil and @200 yards 10 mil. I might try 300 yards, but at 200 a few rounds were destabilizing and the hold would be substantial. At 100 yards, all nice round holes. The .308 is 1:10 twist 16". Mouse farts. My .22 is louder.

welcome to the OT Brightsparc.
Thanks for the info. I'll check out those powders, right now I'm going to give trailboss a try if I can find some in stock somewhere, and use 150 berrys 30/30 bullets and 168gr bergers. Just to see how well ether will do. 1-10 in 308 and 1-8 in 300blk so should be stable or so I hope. all will be with can after first load testing to see if they are stable.

I've run several different loads for both Brando.   Tried several on yotes and the only load in the blackout that would drop the yotes when hit without running off was a lead bullet.  I tried the outlaws with no luck.  I did break down and buy some gemtech subsonic ammo and its been great stuff.  Saves me from the headache and its been reliable and deadly for my 8" SBR.  I've ran 208's, 240s, 220s, the B416s by lapua, 175's and a bunch more with numerous powders and nothing I've loaded as ran as reliable or as accurate as the gemtech stuff.   Wish I could find their projectiles to try to load myself.   Thin jackets for better performance when it makes contact.  I bet I tried 50+ loads I made myself and wasn't truly happy with any of them.  Sure I plink with them but for hunting the gemtech stuff wins.  I'll pull my books and see what I can find with what you got.   I do have a 150gr load with the TTSX 30-30 bullets that I can single loan (won't feed) that has proven good results but I have no need for a single load round.

SWFA sells the gemtech stuff as well.  I'd get some and keep it on hand for hunting use only.

Do you have an adjustable gas block? if not get one, you'll need to cut the gas down on an AR and finely tune it to really get reliable performance from it when firing subsonic. If not once you get a few hundred through it it'll get so dirty it starts to "hiccup" so to speak and the last thing you want is to be showing a customer the benefits of the can and the gun start failing to feed.

On the 308.... I can send you some cases if you'd like.  I drilled out the flashholes and they have been more consistant for me than regular brass.  I get less stringing on my groups.  The B416's worked ok for me here but I've never gotten one to expand or perform on contact.  Fired a few into steel and they deformed the end but not as much as you'd expect.   The 178 AMAX's were my go to for target loads in subsonic and the TTSX 30-30 bullets I mentioned above worked well subsonic in the 308 as well for hunting.  The outlaw bullets did open more on impact but not much more than the TTSX.  I was using trailboss for it.

Like RC said, do a paper check prior to screwing your can on with the loads.    I used heavy paper or light card board at distances close to the muzzle to check for tumbling, didn't want a pill stuck in the can from it tumbling.

great, I use the 150gr berry's at 1025fps with trail boss. Its a very accurate load @ 100 yards. I chose that bullet so it will open at slower speeds for some inside 50yard hog hunting one day.

That and they are cheap.

Probably have 5000+ rnds with berrys at .05 a pop way back when now like .10 rnd.

Ultimately the cheapest I have every shot for a 1000yrd drop at 300-500 yards...That and you have many factors with a bullet going that slow shaped like a bull moose...
