So i have a zeiss 4,5-14x50 conquest with zplex, I've had it for 8 months or so, took it to the range a few times and absolutely love it. Now some time over the summer i purchased a sun shade for it. It was the 2" one made by zeiss. Now sitting up stairs and looking through the scope down the street with the shade on i noticed a ring around the outer most part of my field of view. I never had this before the sun shade and would be willing to bet the house that its from the sun shade. I didnt take it off to check and havent had a chance to mess with it since. I was just curious if anyone else has ever had this problem with a scope, regardless of manufacture. So if this a common phenomena what can i do to fix it? or do i just have to ditch the sun shade? would really suck if i need to loose it because it really wasnt that cheap lol. I will try to get a picture up after work tomorrow. As always any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

You stated you are looking from up stairs, Guess thru a window. Is the window clean and is there a screen. Has dust accumulated on the lens. There us no reason for a sunshade to do this. I hope the neighbors didn't see you aiming at them. Big Grin

3 Tens, I was upstairs and was looking through the open door to the balcony, there was no screen there to block it and no dust on the lens of the scope. I just tried to see if i could replicate it today and its over cast here and it did not have the halo thing this time which makes me question it in the first placeLoco I will have to wait for a sunnier day here to try.

And as for the neighbors, i was sitting about 15' back in the room behind the balcony so if they were able to see in there and see me then they were doing something they shouldnt have been doing and deserve to be scared Bandito

Good Sniper training. LOL. I have the 4.5-14X50 Zeiss with a sunshade and it keeps the sun glare out of the scope very well. Unless you look very close to the sun near sunrise or sunset.

It was just very strange and never had that happen to me before. It should be sunny by this weekend and i plan to go shooting. Its funny living in Las Vegas i would expect it to be sunny almost every day, but for the last month and a half its been raining or over cast. Oh well. Ill take it out this weekend and will update you, if it happens again i will be sure to get a picture of it.
