Hey fellas , I broke down and purchased a pair of Stiener 10x50 police bi-nocs simply because it was recamended that good glasses were essential on a rocky mountain elk hunt. I would like to say that these things opened up a whole new world , I would spot game in thick cover and at distance that I once thought impossible. I would sit and watch elk and other game while some were ablivious to the game on ridges that surronded us.There are a few draw backs to this type of optic.
1. you see further than you can shoot 2. buddies want to look through them all the time 3. you will realize how your scope is lacking when you try to target your quarry after spotting it. Thanks SWFA and the guys on opticstalk!

Uh oh, you are going down an expensive path. Mine to this day is still never ending. I missed the buck of a lifetime that I could clearly see through my Zeiss binoculars. When I brought up my scope for the shot, it had disappeared in front of the background cover. I now have many high end scopes that let me do exactly what you have found out.

I would be of the opinion that seeing further than you can shoot is NOT a drawback. It is the ENTIRE purpose of using either a binocular or a spotter when hunting. If those are the individual eye focus style, you are in for a further educational revelation when you get your hands on equal optical quality center focus. Depth of field tends to decrease with increase in magnification. Decrease the depth off field, you increase the need to focus, and changing focus is the reason for center focus in the first place. Anyway I'm glad you like them

I sold them a few months ago , at the range I let folks use them and compare them to others . My only complaint was the 35oz. they weighed(like a anvil on your chest). One day I was letting a feller look through them and he said they were just what he was looking for and the rest they say is history.
I replace the them with a set of 8x40 Cabelas bino's that I recently lost (crappie luck) .
