Has anyone had any experience withe the Steiner Nighthunter XP, specifically the new roof designs? I'm just curious with the coatings they use for the increased brightness if true color renditions are changed in any way. Obviously, with their Predator line, colors are not going to be true since they are attenuating certain colors while boosting others. I haven't seen anything on the Nighthunter XP series about changing colors with the coatings, but I'm just wondering if they would be affected. Thanks.

They use true broad band coatings.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure. Do you know how the Nighthunter XP line differs optically from the Peregrine XP line. They both have the HD optics and NANO coatings, but other than that, I'm just wondering what differences there would be optically.

It is my understanding that the Peregrine XP uses fluoride glass and a magnesium chassis. I have the 8x42 Nighthunter XP and the Peregrine XP in 8x44 and the view is better in the Peregrine XP. What I mean by that is that it is sharper as you get to the edge of the FOV and sharper all around. The Nighthunter XP is a very good glass but the Peregrine XP is as good as any bino out there. If I was going to use either for hunting, I'd get the Nighthunter XP cause I feel the eye cup design (the twist-up's that is) is more durable than what is currently being used on the Peregrine XP.
