I am mounting a 1.5-6X40 Sightron on a Marlin 1894 in 357mag.

I am planning on using aluminum mounts, any reason not to?

Weaver 2pc base and Weaver Quad mounts.

Thanks in advance.

Typically, aluminum mounts have been good to go.

I have used the mounts in question with no problems.

I have used steel and aluminum rings and bases, I like the aluminum alloys due to lack of potential rust, Steel is tougher though. There are gonna be trade offs, go with what will give you piece of mind.

Aluminum pounds up with hard recoilers.........steel expands more with temp extremes and are heavier. I'd go with aluminum on your rig.

I just traded my 357 to my brother.  It has aluminum rings on it and I haven't had to rezero it in over 10 years.  They're fine on the 1894.  Great even.
