I have a S.S. 10x in Burris XTR rings and EGW aluminum rail, mounted on a Savage model 11f chambered in .300 wsm. I have had to re-position this scope three times due to the scope sliding forward during recoil! Luckily no seious damage has happened to my scope, but I do have a world class set of ring marks and chink in my paralax ring. I think I can swing a set of TPS steel rings pretty soon, but was wondering if they would harm my rail? Or should I wait untill I can get a steel rail as well? Any other options under say $80 would be appreciated!

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Bill,
Steel rings won't harm an aluminum rail.
We mount steel rings and bases on forged aluminum AR15 Flattops all the time. Same thing, really.

As a long-term investment, you might also want to spend $50 on a Wheeler torque wrench.
If properly torqued, you should not have slippage issues. |
