I sent in a swfa ss 3-9x42 for warranty and they are giving me a new one or the price of the scope in store credit.  The problem is that the 3-9x42 is out of stock for a few weeks (This scope was on my primary whitetail hunting gun).

I was looking on the sample list as saw this:
http://www.samplelist.com/Nightforce-25-10x24-NXS-Rifle-Scope-DEMO-C-P60345.aspx

I called on it and talked to Charlie and he said it is the scope in the picture (2.5-10x32) and it is really a Demo-B with .25 MOA turrets, and SFP.

The question is... Is it worth the upgrade/downgrade?

I already have another ss 3-9x43 so I was thinking to get it and do a comparison, and if I did not like it I could send it back within ten days and get the 3-9x42.

What do you guys think?

the NF is a good scope.  Glass will be very similar.  The big difference will be the SFP vs FFP and the the objective size.  It can't hurt to try it out.  Worse case senerio, your out shipping cost.

Thanks for the advice.  I went ahead and upgraded to the NF.  Might even post up a comparison when I receive it and test it out.

Good deal.

It appears that the NF you selected has a lit reticle? Might help out while hunting, no?

You need to make sure to read and understand or contact SWFA and discuss the policy for "trying out" a scope...

Technically in NY we can only hunt sunrise to sunset for whitetail.  Not really a big help because at those times I could still use irons.  For Coyotes it could be very useful.

I will probably sit in the stand a little late with the two to do a comparison.

My brother has the VX-R patrol 3-9x40 and the illuminated dot is nice in low light. I believe the NF has the complete reticle illuminated.  Seems like that would be nicer for hold overs in low light.

Not sure if I will miss the FFP of the SWFA and the mil/mil of the turret/reticle.  The NF is SFP and is MOA/MOA.  Will know more next week when it arrives.

I talked to charlie and he said that if I did not like the scope I could send it back within 10 days.  He also said that they are more lenient because it is a sample list scope and not a new one.

I assumed that I could mount it and use it a little within those ten days. How else would I know if I really liked the scope.  I will contact them and ask if that is acceptable before I mount and use the scope.  Thanks for the heads up.
